ADD/ADHD
I have a 15 yr old son who has been diagnosed with ADD. His doctor prescribed meds for him 4 yrs ago and within that same year I stopped him from taking them.
I would like to go with natural herbs, would using the Focus Formula Liquid and the Brain Pep be too much or should I stick with having him taking just one type and which would be better?
The Focus Formula is a great place to start to provide key
nutrients to support improved focus and concentration. The B vitamin family is very important as are
the blend of phospholipids such as Phosphatidyl choline and Phosphatidyl
serine. These are vital to lipid
membranes of the brain and neurological system.
The formula also contains DMAE, a compound that has been found to be
particularly useful for enhancing focus.
The Brain Pep formula may also be helpful but I would start
them one at a time (i.e. try the Focus Formula for about 2 weeks, then add in
the Brain Pep formula if desired results have not been reached). Also, be aware that the Brain Pep formula
does contain some caffeine so be careful to look out for any unwanted side
effects like racing heart, urinary frequency or difficulty sleeping at
night.
Other vital nutrients for proper focus and concentration are
Omega 3 fatty acids from fish oil. I
highly recommend you make this part of his daily supplement regimen. In addition, it is important to focus on the
right nutrition. Giving protein rich
meals helps to stabilize blood sugars during the day which is crucial to brain
function. The Focus Formula has a small
amount of chromium in it which is very helpful for maintaining blood sugar
balance throughout the day.
